Man and Van Wandsworth looks at luck and property numbers. Most people probably have never thought about this, never considered choosing somewhere because of the door colour or number (quite right too, we say), but a recent report in the Daily Mail has said that maybe we should not be so flippant about these things.
Man and Van Wandsworth recently heard that the most unlucky number to live at is 33, whilst those who reside at number 76 are the least likely to suffer burglary or fire. Interestingly enough, almost half of the 6,000 adults interviewed for the article said they would go out of their way to avoid living at number 13.
Of course, wherever you’re living, with whatever number on the door, negligence on the part of the homeowner is always a factor when it comes to protecting yourself and your family, so keep your stuff locked up tight.
Although here at Man and Van Wandsworth we cannot help you choose the place you’ll be moving too, or indeed chase away any bad luck that may be lurking there, but we can help your move go as smoothly as possible.
If you’d like any more information about our service, or our superstitious inclinations, please do get in touch-and don’t step on the pavement cracks. Thanks.
Wandsworth Release Parking Footage
Man and Van Wandsworth was very interested to find out about a new addition to the Wandsworth Council website, it’s something that is bound to interest the motorists who, shall we say, don’t always pay the closest attention to parking laws in different councils… That’s right, for those of you who have picked up a parking fine in the fine borough of Wandsworth you can now see a live video of you breaking (or not breaking) that certain law.
Wandsworth council have added a feature on their website where you can enter your penalty charge notice, as well as a few other details to see photos, or even CCTV footage of your violation. So if you’re not convinced you’ve done something wrong, you can double check to see if the fine is deserved or not. Here at Man and Van Wandsworth we’re happy to see this come into affect, it will surely save a lot of the councils employees time when people can make their own judgement about if contesting a fine is worth it or not. After all it would be quite hard to deny you were parked on that double yellow if you can see yourself pop out of the car and into the shop to get that last cornish pasty before you drive off down a bus lane!
Man and Van Wandsworth also enjoy the fact that CCTV footage is being opened to the public, there is always a lot of complaints about the British public being the most monitored in the World. But at least this time the CCTV footage can actually come to the help of those looking to beat a fine which they’ve undeservedly been handed. It’s nice to see a bit of transparency with the footage, as in too many cases councils will treat it as though it is some top secret tape that can’t be shown to anyone!

Man and Van Wandsworth gets busy
It’s been a busy few weeks for Man and Vans, and Man and Van Wandsworth has been especially busy with a host of new jobs that had to be done. As usual they were carried in the most professional manner, with great feedback from our customers. It seems Wandsworth is gaining a lot of popularity among young professionals looking for the perks of living in South London, without the inflated house prices of Clapham or other nearby areas! The transport links are also pretty great, with Earlsfield station running trains to Clapham, Vauxhall and Waterloo within 15 minutes.
It’s not a particularly well known area but those who do live there seem to love it! And it’s not too surprising to see why, Wandsworth Common within walking distance, a good amount of independent little cafe’s and restaurants gives the area a real sense of community. There’s a few notable mentions to be made about famous residents who’ve lived in the area, none other than former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan, as well as Paul Merton. A prestigious group I think you’ll agree… We’re always very happy to do jobs in Wandsworth as our offices are in fact based in the area meaning it’s very easy for us to get to any jobs very quickly. If you would like more information about Man and Van wandsworth services, or a quote please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Man and Van Wandsworth talks about the Olympic Pin
We at Man and Van Wandsworth have our own thoughts on the borough’s contribution to the pins, which are set to become valuable collector’s items, although we’d better get cracking, as voting closes at midnight on the 18th October.
Man and Van Wandsworth is getting excited. As the Olympics draw ever nearer, Wandsworth residents are being encouraged to vote for the landmark that they’d most like to see representing the borough on their Olympic pin, which will be released as part of a set, along with one for each of the 33 other London areas, to commemorate the 2012 games. The favourite sites which have made it to the short list include Wandsworth Bridge, Battersea power station, and the Buddhist Peace Pagoda which makes for a beautiful centre piece in Battersea Park.
The idea behind the pins comes as part of the Landmark London scheme, in partnership with each of the local councils, encouraging locals to go and explore their local areas, and take advantage of the beautiful things to see and do. Lucky for us as at Man and Van Wandsworth, we have ample opportunity to soak up the sites of the city as we drive through many of the different areas on our way to and from removal jobs.
Let us know your thoughts and which iconic image you would be proud to have representing your borough!
Man and Van Wandsworth Looks to the Stars
Man and Van Wandsworth, London’s leading light removals service, may be looking to the stars but this week it’s the moon that is of more interest to Man and Van London. This Thursdsay the 6th of August will see the Earth pass between the Sun and the Moon resulting in a penumbral lunar eclipse. This can only occur because the Earth, Moon and the Sun are perfectly aligned and should result in parts of the moon appearing darker. The eclipse will be completely visible over Africa, Europe and South America.
Man and Van Wandsworth runs a full fleet of large Luton vans but also smaller short wheel base transits that can transfer telescopes slightly smaller than Hubble. Man and Van suggests you keep you eyes open this Thursday, but don’t confuse this lunar eclipse with the more spectacular and far more rare solar eclipse, where the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun causing darkness. The lunar eclipse is far more subtle. For more information on the lunar eclipse log onto space.com. For your more Earth bound removal needs contact Man and Vans your reliable, efficient and friendly light removals service.

Man and Van Wandsworth
Man and Van Wandsworth has always been easy for us. When we started our business in 2004 we were based in SW18 and spent our first years navigating the famed gyratory and one way system before outgrowing our facilities and relocating last year just down the road to Wimbledon, SW19.
That said, Man and Vans haven’t forgotten our roots. It is easier for us to get to work that starts or ends in South West London and therefore we offer a discount of £10 off the first hours work for any Wandsworth work.
Check out our price list and make an online enquiry and we will go further – if you manage to find a cheaper quote for the work from a Man and Van company we will price match the quote.
We look forward to hearing from our Wandsworth neighbours.

Man and Van Wandsworth shares Parking Bay Suspension contacts in London
Man and Van Wandsworth removals customers often need to arrange for parking bays to be suspended over the course of a removal. This can be arranged with local councils if you are using parking bays or with Transport for London if customers need a suspension on a red route or other centrally controlled roads.
Suspensions can also be arranged on red routes and roads managed by Transport for London and this is centrally managed by TFL rather than local councils.
Please note that Man and Van will help customers as much as possible to arrange parking bay suspensions but we cannot be held responsible for any parking tickets that are picked up during removals work – this is all laid out in our terms and conditions.
