Man and Van Wandsworth: A Poetic Tribute

December 30th, 2009

We at Man and Vans love to move things- heavy things, light things; you name it, we’re ready to carry it. No one can say that we don’t work our bodies hard. So, we thought why not exercise our minds and creative flair both at once, and try our hand at acrostic poetry. In an ode to Man and Van Wandsworth, we’ve penned what you see below. It’s a beauty, we’re sure you’ll agree:

Man and Van Wandsworth: always on hand,Happy movers
At your beck and call for any removal needs.
Valiant young men to the rescue,
With gentle hands to take care of your wares.
Any time, any place, any object,
No job too big or too small.
Don’t hesitiate, phone the lovely Roman today!
Sweet and friendly, he’ll quote you a price,
When we can be there and how many men we’ll bring.
Oh, how lovely to have a friendly Wandsworth removal service,
Ready and willing to help out the customer.
Trusty employees will ensure you have
Happy moving with Man and Vans.

What do you think of our creative genius? Do let us know by leaving a comment at the bottom of our post, or by leaving your own Man and Vans poetry for us to read!
Happy writing!

Wandsworth’s Olympic Pin

December 23rd, 2009

London landmarksAs the Olympics draw ever nearer, Wandsworth residents are being encouraged to vote for the landmark that they’d most like to see representing the borough on their Olympic pin, which will be released as part of a set, along with one for each of the 33 other London areas, to commemorate the 2012 games. The favourite sites which have made it to the short list include Wandsworth Bridge, Battersea power station, and the Buddhist Peace Pagoda which makes for a beautiful centre piece in Battersea Park.
We at Man and Van Wandsworth have our own thoughts on the borough’s contribution to the pins, which are set to become valuable collector’s items, although we’d better get cracking, as voting closes at midnight on the 18th October.
The idea behind the pins comes as part of the Landmark London scheme, in partnership with each of the local councils, encouraging locals to go and explore their local areas, and take advantage of the beautiful things to see and do. Lucky for us as at Man and Van Wandsworth, we have ample opportunity to soak up the sites of the city as we drive through many of the different areas on our way to and from removal jobs.
Let us know your thoughts and which iconic image you would be proud to have representing your borough!

Man and Van London Fireworks

October 29th, 2009

man and van fireworks 200x300When Guido Fawkes was caught, fuse in hand, under the Houses of Parliament standing next to enough gunpowder to destroy half of Westminister he must have thought that things couldn’t get much worse. He’d not managed to blow up King James I, the Gunpowder plot had failed in the conspiracy to end the government and he was about to be tortured to death. Then again he did manage to leave a legacy in the form of bonfire night. Guy would have been happy being hung, drawn and quartered knowing that every 5th November we celebrate his monumental failure by setting effigies of him on fire and representing what he should have done by shooting fireworks into the air.

Yes its bonfire night and Man and Vans, London’s original light removals service, wants to celebrate by letting you know the best displays across London which you can enjoy with Man and Vans.

Sunday 1st NovemberMan and Van Wandsworth will enjoying the fireworks at Clapham Common. This massive display will kick off around half past seven and include a huge burning bonfire complete with Guy himself.

Thursday 5th NovemberThe Victoria Park display should provide Man and Van Hackney with a mid week treat of fireworks with friends. This East London display is a London institution and promise to be as spectacular as ever (The date of the Victoria Park display is subject to change).

Saturday 7th November – Those of you in West London can enjoy this bonfire night in Ravenscourt Park with Man and Van Hammersmith. The display should begin at eight pm. Food and drink will be available to those wanting to raise a cheer as the sky’s lights up.

Man and Van London encourages the safe use of fireworks. Keep out of the reach of children.

Man and Van work in Wandsworth

April 27th, 2009

wandsworth map 300x255Man and Van work in Wandsworth, London has always been easiest for us. When we started our business in 2004 we were based in SW18 and spent our first years navigating the famed gyratory and one way system.

Last year we moved just down the road to SW19, but we haven’t forgotten our roots. It is easier for us to get to work that starts or ends in SW18 and therefore we offer a discount of £10 off the first hours work for any Wandsworth work.

Check out our price list and make an online enquiry and we will go further – if you manage to find a cheaper quote for the work from a Man and Van company we will price match the quote.

We look forward to hearing from our Wandsworth neighbours.

If you are moving into the area then have a look at the following information sites:
